How much wax should I use for an 8oz jar and tea lights?
i don't add anything to my soy.
On my 8 oz candles I use 4 oz of soy wax, because when you add steric acid and vybar 260 and your fragrance it all melts down to about 8 oz all combined. :)
If I am making an 8 oz candle I would probably weigh out 8 oz. of soy flakes and have another container handy for the left over wax. The soy liquid will have more volume than the flakes so you will definitely have a little left over wax to make some tea lights with.
Hi I am going to make some wax hands (childrens size) could you give me an idea of how much soy wax I need to buy for 1 hand? Thanks
The simple answer is use 8oz. of liquid wax for the 8oz. container and about 1/2 oz of liquid wax per tealight. Now to complicate things: If you are not weighing your wax, it takes about 2 cups of soy wax flakes to make one cup of liquid wax. This varies of course depending on the kind of wax you are using.
Two cups of soy wax flakes makes about one cup of liquid wax, that will fill about 15 tealights.
It is a good idea to invest in a scale, especially for weighing fragrance oils. Candlemaking can be as much of a science as an art form. Hope this helps... happy and safe candlemaking, redmaple
